In order to generate more endorsement revenue, Champion City's resident superhero Captain Amazing arranges for the release of supervillain Casanova Frankenstein, only to be captured by him. The city's fate rests in the hands of seven loser superhero wannabes: the spoon-flinging Blue Rajah, the shovel-wielding Shoveler, the possessed bowling ball-hurling Bowler, the flatulent Spleen, the only-when-nobody's-looking Invisible Boy, the mysterious Sphinx, and the perpetually-angry Mr. Furious.
Honestly i loved this, helped by the fact i saw it without any knowledge or warning of what it was like. <br/><br/>Right from the Batman-esque opening scene, i knew this was something a bit different to the norm and i wasnt disappointed. Ok so its not perfect, but i couldnt help laughing repeatedlythe wannabe heroes tripped and stumbled through one mess up to another.<br/><br/>Recommended, specially if you are a little tired of some of the overrated comedy hyped to the heavens these days. This one at least doesnt suffer from that problem. After some of the dross that "serious" superhero movies have become lately, it was great to see something that openly mocked both them, the commercialism surrounding them, AND itself without a single iota of shame!<br/><br/>Try it, just remember that it is purposefully cheesy, and you might be surprised ;)
First time director Kinka Usher has trouble setting a solid tone; but she could not have been more fortunate with such an amazing ensemble cast of brilliant people and such super production design; also: HOORAY FOR EVERYONE!!!! Very funny, good script, great casting!!!!
One of those half-straight, half-spoof comic-book extravaganzas that don't ever work, and what's neat is that this one does–beautifully.
